The Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill stresses the importance of developing leadership skills through hands-on experience and teaching business strategy that creates profit but does little damage to the planet. The school has campuses in Chapel Hill, N.C.; Bangkok, Thailand; Hong Kong; Rotterdam, The Netherlands; São Paulo, Brazil; and Monterrey, Mexico. Kenan-Flagler offers students a full-time M.B.A., evening M.B.A., weekend M.B.A., an online M.B.A., and a Global M.B.A, along with a Ph.D. program. The Global M.B.A., known as OneMBA, allows students to learn from five accredited universities on four continents, and more than half of the executives in OneMBA live and work outside the United States.
The full-time M.B.A. program features flexible classes that place an emphasis on global perspectives and the business process model, which organizes the first year of study to simulate the cycle of running a business. Students have the option to join M.B.A. student clubs and organizations, including the Consulting Club and the Investment Club, among many others. Students enroll in elective courses beginning in their first year to prepare for summer internships, and roughly 20 percent of the elective courses are new each year.
There are more than 30,000 alumni worldwide, and some of the most notable graduates are Paul Clayton, CEO of Jamba Juice; Helen Ding, senior vice president for Citigroup; and Brad Sparks, director of KPMG International’s Global Green Initiative.
