Named after the late Coca-Cola CEO Roberto C. Goizueta, the Goizueta Business School at Emory University bases its principles and values on its namesake’s legacy, whose story of success involved courage, integrity, and accountability, among other qualities that are outlined in the school’s core values. The Atlanta-based business school offers a full-time M.B.A. program, as well as a one-year accelerated M.B.A. program for students focused on returning to the workforce quickly.
Along with the full-time sequences, evening and executive M.B.A. programs and a Ph.D. program are available to students. Joint degrees are offered in conjunction with the Emory University School of Law, the Division of Physical Therapy, the Rollins School of Public Health, the Candler School of Theology, and the School of Medicine.
The Goizueta Business School promotes close relationships between full-time students and faculty, offering a student-faculty ratio of 5:1. A personal community is created during orientation when first year students participate in WinShape Wilderness, a ropes course in the mountains of North Georgia that gives students the chance to get to know one another through a series of physical challenges. The school offers more than 30 clubs and organizations for M.B.A. student participation, including the Core Values Council and the Graduate Business Association.
Goizueta sponsors a mentorship program that matches students with alumni mentors in their area of professional interest. Notable alumni of the business school include Duncan Niederauer, CEO of the securities exchange firm NYSE Euronext, Inc.; Lado Gurgenidze, former prime minister of Georgia; and Alan Lacy, former chairman and CEO of department store chain Sears, Roebuck and Co.
